Boondocking
Boondocking is free camping, generally out in the boondocks. The word boondocks is an American slang term originating from the Filipino language (Tagalog) word bundók meaning mountain. It originally referred to a remote rural area, but now, is used to describe an out-of-the-way area considered backward and/or unsophisticated by people from urban areas.
So Boondocking can be challenging and lots of fun in one adventure. It’s great for kids to be exposed to the wilderness in a way that’s safe and also educational. Most Boondockers will use an RV or trailer as a comfortable base but some hardcore adventurists choose to tent or sleep outdoors with no protection (depending on the weather).
Either way, it’s important to maintain hygiene standards whilst camping and one of the most important ways to do this is to utilize a portable camping toilet.
